2019 Wilderness Rally

Join us July 27–30, 2019 at Turnbull Harbour (NC-55)! Cost is only $40 USD/boat up to 2 people. This years Wilderness Rally will be in partnership with Women Who Sail the Great Lakes with members of both groups helping to organize the activities and presentations. Included in the Wilderness Rally will be the traditional GLCC “No Ketchup Dog Dinner,” onshore and on boat BYOB / appetizer Happy Hours, a Scavenger Hunt, blueberry picking, a book / DVD exchange, morning yoga as well as BYO coffee. There will be informational presentations and activities that will engage all. Continuing with GLCC tradition, there will be the always-delicious Potluck dinner on the last evening. A new item that comes from the WWS side will be to gather and donate items needed by a local animal rescue organization. Please click here for more information and registration!

Welland Canal Notice for Pleasure Craft

The GLCC has received notice that St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation has announced changes to procedures for pleasure boats transiting the Welland Canal.  The changes come into effect July 15th and are described on their website here http://www.greatlakes-seaway.com/en/recreational/lockage_schedule_wel.html

Port Captain Introductions: Anne Wech

​     Anne Wech is our newly appointed Port Captain for Geneva State Park, Ohio (E-6.5). Let's give her a warm welcome when we see her! Here's a little background about her and her husband Barry...
     Ann and Barry have been boating together for the past 30 years. They have cruised the Florida waters and most of the Great Lakes. They did the Trent-Seven Waterway twice, and have done most of the Intercostal Waterway. They have been the marina manager at the Geneva State Park Marina (a 391-slip marina) for the past five years and were previously the marina manager at Everglades National Park in Florida, for seven years. Port Captain Introductions: Jim Lee

     Jim Lee has been appointed as Port Captain for Mentor, Ohio (E-8). Let's welcome him by stopping by at some point this summer!
    Jim took an interest in boating in 2005; a friend took him along on a Wednesday night race in a Beneteau 36.7. After an exciting race, he thanked the owner profusely. He was invited back and became a member of the crew. He rarely missed a race. Please click here to read more!

2019 April Launch Weekend

This year’s April Launch Weekend will be held at both the Holiday Inn Express & Suites and the Chatham-Kent John D. Bradley Convention Centre (CKCC) which are adjacent to each other. In addition to the meetings and banquet dinner on Saturday, April 27, we will begin the festivities on Friday night at the Chilled Cork Restaurant & Lounge located in the Retro Suites Hotel in downtown Chatham. Attendees will be able to socialize prior to a scrumptious buffet dinner. After dinner, members will be free to return to their rooms or visit several of the local establishments in downtown Chatham.
     Saturday morning will begin with a complimentary hot breakfast at the Holiday Inn Express followed by the Board of Director’s Meetings for both the GLCC and the GLF held at the CKCC. Members not attending the meetings are welcome to visit the shops of downtown Chatham. Lunch will be on your own.

2019 Spring Break XXVII

  In February, when the ice grows thick on the Great Lakes, and the snow again drifts through the region, we hope you’ll join us Feb. 10–13, for the GLCC Spring Break XXVII on the Gulf Coast of Florida. We have another enticing program lined up for you, and Spring Break is always a good opportunity to meet up with old friends, make new friends, and talk about the coming cruising season. Pack light, the whole event is dressy casual!
     The arrival day at St. Petersburg, Fla., is Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Hyatt Place St. Petersburg / Downtown, where we have arranged a special room rate of $219 USD/night. Breakfast and internet are included with the room rate. Parking is $15 USD/day.
